The beginnings of the 5500 circuit date back to the original 550 equalizer designed by Saul Walker, the founder of Automated Processes Inc. The 550 was designed as a console equalizer, which uses an unbalanced input in reason for the architecture of the recording console. Because the ergonomics of a console require that the controls take up little space, the number of functions included can sometimes be limited. The 5500 is specifically designed to address these limitations; it features a balanced input, true straight-wire bypass, a built-in power supply with quiet mute, and a range control that extends its versatility to mastering applications.
Features:
- 2 channel equalizer
- Classic 550B design
- 2 individual bands per channel
- Shelf filter on bass and treble
- True bypass switch
- XLR balanced inputs and outputs
- Unbalanced 6.3 mm jack outputs per channel
