A next-generation BOSS octave pedal with vintage and polyphonic modes, instant response and extended range. Blending classic BOSS octave sounds with the latest sensing technology, the BOSS OC-5 sets a new standard for octave pedal performance. Vintage mode offers a faithful recreation of the legendary 1982 OC-2 mono, while Poly mode offers a host of enhancements for playing in different keys. And with the addition of the Octave-Up function, three octaves are now available for creation. From fat mono sounds to enriched treble chords, the OC-5 provides the widest and most refined range of sounds, and the best playability of any octave pedal to date.
Powered by the latest BOSS real-time processing technology, the OC-5 delivers exceptional tone and playability for the most expressive octave experience ever. A key feature is the latest detection technology, which delivers clear, accurate performance with zero latency. The OC-5 also offers a wider range and more polyphony than previous OC models, covering all octave needs in a single high-performance pedal.
Released in 1982, the OC-2 was the world's first modern octave pedal for guitar and bass. Still cherished by musicians the world over, it delivers a warm, present sound that blends seamlessly into the mix, and its distinctive timbre can be heard in many famous songs. The OC-5's Vintage mode brings back the cult mono sounds of the OC-2 with improved response thanks to new detection technology. Dedicated level controls are available for the -1 and -2 octave effects and the direct sound, giving you quick access to an infinite variety of sub-octave colours.
The OC-5 also features an enhanced version of the Poly mode first introduced in the OC-3 Super Octave, allowing you to play complete chords using octave effects. The Range knob restricts the effect to the lowest notes on the instrument, allowing you to play bass lines with octave effects while playing unaltered melodies and chords in the higher registers. And thanks to improvements in the detection system, it's even possible to limit the octave effect to the lowest note of a chord. Simply turn the Range knob to the "Lowest" setting.
A useful new feature of the OC-5, available in Vintage and Poly modes, is the new Octave-Up effect. Simply turn the dedicated +1 OCT knob to obtain the desired effect level. You can use the Octave-Up effect as a solo to get a 12-string guitar effect or a variety of solo sounds, or mix it with Octave-Down effects to get extended chord voicings and fat leads.
The OC-5 lets you instantly optimise the performance of the detection system for guitar or bass via a dedicated switch on the pedal. And thanks to the Direct Out, it's easy to route dry and effected sounds to different destinations such as two amps or two different channels on a mixer.
