The Warm Audio Fen-tone is inspired by a classic 1950s ribbon microphone. Like its predecessor, it features a compact, pencil-style design with vented sides that allows for placement in crowded recording environments. The Fen-tone features enhancements to optimize its use in modern production environments: a custom Japanese ribbon, a neodymium magnet, and a CineMag USA transformer. It features a fully analog 26 dB JFET preamp, allowing it to be used seamlessly with all types of consoles and audio interfaces. All of this allows the Fen-Tone to deliver the iconic tones of a ribbon microphone for recording electric guitars, drums, brass instruments, and many other sources.
