Each guitar in the Builder's Edition family represents the pinnacle of Taylor's design philosophy: comfortable, welcoming guitars with a rich, robust sound and stunning aesthetics.
‘With our finest craftsmanship, the Builder's Edition family represents a new level of comfort, playability and sound in acoustic guitars.’
Builder's Edition guitars are designed to deliver exceptional sound quality. Subtle modifications to the body shape, tone-enhancing inner bracing, premium tone woods and other tuning adjustments result in complex and sophisticated sound profiles that transcend boundaries between genres, playing styles and musical applications.
No guitar sounds as good as it feels in the player's hands. With innovative design elements such as bevelled armrests, modified cutaways, chamfered edges and subtly modified neck profiles, Builder's Edition guitars strengthen the bond between player and instrument.
Our revolutionary new sound engine powers every Builder's Edition guitar, reshaping the sound to produce more volume and sustain, with better-tuned notes from top to bottom.
Two flagship woods, Indian rosewood and redwood, combine to give musicians a colourful palette of sounds to explore with the Grand Auditorium Builder's Edition 814ce LTD from Taylor's 50th Anniversary 2024 Collection. The rich bass and sparkling treble of rosewood are legendary. Redwood, harvested from the rivers of Northern California, combines the warmth and fingerboard sensitivity of cedar with remarkably bold projection and a wide dynamic range. Together, these two woods offer a level of sonic sophistication that is further enhanced by Taylor's V-Class voicing architecture under the bonnet. The guitar's sonic virtues are accompanied by a series of ergonomic playing features that distinguish the Builder's Edition experience.
A beveled armrest, beveled cutaway, chamfered body edges and contoured Curve Wing bridge enhance the comfort of our player-favorite classic Grand Auditorium model. Visual details include a single-ring rosette with green abalone inlays accented by rosewood, maple and black purfling, alternating layers of black, maple and rosewood purfling on the top, a rosewood-trimmed soundboard and an Indian rosewood pickguard. The neck features gold mother-of-pearl inlays on the fingerboard and peghead, maple purfling around the fingerboard and peghead, silver-plated side dots and Gotoh 510 action in antique gold. The rosewood back and sides are finished in Kona edgeburst, with a subtle, contrasting line of maple purfling around the back. A gloss finish wraps the body in a luxurious sheen that highlights the beautifully carved contours. Signature anniversary fingerboards include ebony bridge posts with gold acrylic dots and a commemorative 50th anniversary label inside the guitar. The model includes built-in ES2 electronics and comes in a deluxe Taylor case.
Taylor's signature shape embodies the ultimate in versatile acoustics.
The superstar tonewood. Popular, traditional and versatile, Bob Taylor places Indian rosewood among the finest tonewoods of all time.

The Expression System® 2 captures more of a guitar's dynamic properties with a revolutionary behind-the-saddle design.
Our beveled cutaway provides a more player-friendly feel for every inch of the neck. It features a smooth edge along the corner of the body between the end of the cutaway and the heel of the neck, providing a more comfortable feel for the fretting hand.
Our patented V-Class bracing is a revolutionary new design - a new sound engine - that marks a major departure from traditional steel string bracing.
