In 2008, our HT-5 took the world by storm, setting a precedent for low-power home and studio amps. Now, the MkII takes that revered design a step further with incredible performance and game-changing new features, from 0.5W dynamic power reduction and footswitchable vocals to XLR DI output and direct USB recording.
The grit of low-power tubes
Tube amps sound better when they're fired up. The unique feel, dynamics, and natural compression of a hot tube power stage are widely considered the holy grail of guitar sound. The problem is that cranking up your 100W tube amp at these volumes is not practical for you or your neighbors. Our HT-5R MkII with its low-power 12BH7 push-pull power amp produces the crunch and breakup characteristics of a traditional 100W output stage at volumes suitable for practice and home recording.
Perfect for practice and recording
In addition to providing capture-ready tube tones at any volume, the HT-5R MkII features a direct USB output for the easiest way to get a tube tone into your recordings without the need for an interface. A fully specified stereo recording output via XLR and jack with selectable 4 × 12 or 1 × 12 speaker simulation options is also included.
The best part? These amps have built-in load protection, which means you can use them without a connected cabinet for quiet practice and recording.
Professional recording connectivity
A USB output has been added for the easiest way to get a valve tone in your recordings. A balanced XLR DI pro output is also added, allowing you to connect the simulated speaker signal (selectable 4x12 or 1x12) to external devices for practice, recording or live use.
Power Reduction
Inspired by our patented Dynamic Power Reduction circuitry, you can simply switch to 0.5 watts at the touch of a button without any loss of tone. Perfect for feeding the 12BH7 power stage at lower volumes.
Patented ISF
The patented ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) control is unique to Blackstar Amplification and represents a major advance in tone shaping flexibility. The ISF control shifts the response of the three-tone control stack between a US-style response at one end and a UK-style response at the other. Most importantly, between the two extremes is an infinite number of alternative tone choices that would otherwise be unavailable.
