The Digiface USB is an extremely compact and portable digital audio interface with 4 ADAT/SPDIF optical I/O and a high-quality analog line/phone output via a 6.3mm TRS jack. Continuing the legacy of RME's popular Digiface HDSP, a triple ADAT I/O interface with phones and PCI interface, Digiface USB simplifies connection with USB 2, requires no external power and even adds another I/O optical, resulting in 32 input and output channels each when using ADAT optics.
The analog output hosts channels 33/34 and can be used freely thanks to TotalMix FX, RME's routing and monitoring solution which has virtually no limits when it comes to routing and mixing (the Digiface USB does not include 'effects). Each optical port can use ADAT (up to 8 channels) or SPDIF (stereo). While the inputs automatically adapt to the received signal format, the outputs can be individually switched between ADAT and SPDIF operation. SMUX and SMUX4 are supported. Therefore, at 192 kHz, 8 channels via 4 x SPDIF or ADAT are possible on the inputs and outputs.
Like all the latest RME interfaces, the Digiface USB also includes the powerful TotalMix FX real-time digital mixer. It allows virtually unlimited mixing and routing operations, with all inputs and channels playing simultaneously, to any hardware output. The Digiface USB has no DSP, so no effects are available. It does, however, include a dedicated Control Room section with Talkback, Main/Phones, fader groups, mute groups, full remote controllability via Mackie or OSC protocol, and much more.
