The SF-24 Coincident Stereo Microphone is the phantom-powered version of our popular SF-12 ribbon microphone. It combines the exceptional stereo separation, imaging, and high-quality sonic performance of the SF-12 with our active ribbon microphone circuitry. The SF-24's output (38 dB) is higher than that of the SF-12 (-52 dB), allowing it to compete with phantom-powered condenser microphones. The SF-24 features innovative circuitry and specially designed transistors to achieve ultra-low noise (induced noise level below 18 dB).
Like the SF-12, the SF-24 consists of two matched ribbon microphones mounted one on top of the other, forming a coincident pair, each oriented at a 45-degree angle from the center (a classic Blumlein configuration). The two 1.8-micron ribbon drivers feature a magnet/pole element structure that ensures a wide, linear frequency response with no significant peaks or drops, as well as outstanding transient response. This provides excellent frequency response at any positioning angle, as well as minimal off-axis coloration.*
