Nine Exceptional Sound Engines
The KRONOS features nine different sound engines:
- Three engines dedicated to the most important traditional keyboard instruments: the SGX-2 offers superb acoustic piano sounds, the EP-1 provides electric piano sounds (MDS synthesis), and the CX-3 delivers an outstanding tonewheel organ.
- In addition, three different virtual analog synthesizers provide a wide range of possibilities and unique sounds: the AL-1, MS-20EX, and PolysixEX.
- The HD-1 is a fully-fledged wave sequence sampler and synthesizer.
- The STR-1 physical modeling synthesizer can reproduce traditional timbres or create entirely new sounds.
- The MOD-7 combines Variable Phase Modulation (VPM), waveshaping, and a powerful PCM processor.
Each of these sound engines could stand alone as its own instrument, but the KRONOS combines them all into one integrated music workstation.
A Stage Beast!
The Smooth Sound Transition (SST) technology ensures seamless transitions by allowing overlapping effects and voices during sound changes, providing a vast field of possibilities for demanding musicians. Additionally, the KRONOS offers more than 197 different effects, including chorus, delay, amp models, vocoders, and much more. It has everything you need!
Instant Karma
The Karma (Kay Algorithmic Music Architecture) function provides access to an incredibly flexible interactive MIDI data generator. Far more than a simple arpeggiator, this feature combines numerous algorithms to become a powerful music generator that follows your playing. Similarly, the stereo sampling feature allows you to capture audio from any of the KRONOS's analog or digital inputs.
MIDI and Audio Sequencer
With 16 MIDI tracks and 16 audio tracks (24-bit, 48 kHz), you can directly record all your ideas on the KRONOS. Additionally, you can import and export SMF and WAVE files if you work with other platforms.
Computer Connectivity and USB Storage
Connect the instrument to your computer using a USB 2.0 cable to exchange audio and MIDI data with software workstations. Moreover, the KRONOS editor software allows you to edit sounds directly on your computer.
An Exceptional Musical Interface
In addition to its large TouchView color touchscreen, the KRONOS provides a wide array of physical controls (sliders, switches, joysticks, and ribbons), giving you complete and direct mastery of your music. The term "workstation" takes on its full meaning here.
