Streamliner: the Gretsch spirit, designed for today's musicians
The G2622 Streamliner embodies a decidedly modern approach to the Gretsch sound: preserving the "vintage" personality (attack, brightness, roundness) while adding practical design choices for amplified playing. The center block at the heart of this semi-hollow stabilizes the response and helps control feedback, making it an excellent entry point into the world of double-cut guitars with classic aesthetics but performance-oriented features.
For which guitarist and styles
This Gretsch is well suited for advanced beginner to intermediate guitarists seeking a versatile semi-hollow, as well as for stage musicians looking for an expressive and reliable guitar. It shines in blues, rock, indie, pop, and rockabilly, with a real advantage when alternating between clean rhythms, crunch, and singing solos. The shorter scale length enhances comfort and facilitates bends.
The sound
The semi-hollow with center block construction provides a highly sought-after combination: natural resonance and generous low-mids, while maintaining good sustain when increasing gain. The Broad'Tron BT-2S humbuckers deliver a thick and articulate sound, with solid lows, present mids, and clear highs for defined chords. The simple and effective electronics (two volumes, one tone, 3-position selector) allow quick shaping of a round clean, a snappy crunch, or a denser lead, while exploiting playing nuances and volume control.
