KUN Shoulder Rest Original Black (1/4 - 1/8)

Kun Original: a timeless classic among violin shoulder rests

The Kun Original has established itself over time as a benchmark thanks to a design that is simple, robust, and effective. Its easy adjustment mechanism contributes to its popularity among a wide range of musicians, from amateurs to professionals, who seek a reliable shoulder rest for daily use. Made in Canada, it exemplifies Kun's approach: quality materials and consistent technical and aesthetic standards.

For whom and in what contexts?

This shoulder rest is designed for violinists playing on 1/4 or 1/8 instruments, making it an excellent choice for learning and regular practice. It is suitable both for posture work (instrument hold, neck comfort, stability) and for rehearsals and auditions. Since every body shape is different, there is no single "correct" position: the goal is to find an adjustment that respects overall alignment (neck, shoulder, back) while securing the violin hold.

Comfort and ergonomics

A shoulder rest does not influence the sound like a set of strings or a bridge would, but it plays a central role in freedom of playing and tension management. The Kun Original is molded to the shape of the shoulder to provide a natural support surface while promoting a more stable instrument position. Thanks to the continuously adjustable height, you can fine-tune the fit to limit compensations (raised shoulder, tightened neck) and gain ease, especially during position shifts and wide bow strokes.
