Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
An essential instrument in Latin and Caribbean music, the guiro is traditionally made from a gourd. This Turbo plastic version retains the scraping principle while focusing on reliability and consistency, ideal for stage, school, or rehearsals.
Who This Drum/Guiro Is For
This guiro is suitable for beginners as well as intermediate percussionists looking for a simple, effective, and durable instrument. It naturally fits into salsa, merengue, cumbia, pop, world music, and any rhythm section needing a clear and stable pattern.
Features and Innovations
Its 3 playing surfaces allow alternating attacks, speeds, and dynamics without changing instruments. The plastic scraper offers a smooth feel and precise articulation, useful for working on timing and ghost notes.
The Sound
The plastic provides a clear and consistent response, with a well-defined attack and projection that easily cuts through an ensemble. The different surfaces allow switching from a fine grain to a more pronounced scraping sound, depending on the piece and tempo.
