Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
PDP (Pacific Drums & Percussion) is a brand of Drum Workshop Inc., renowned for its high standards in shells, pedals, and hardware. Founded in 2000, PDP was created to offer high-quality production-series drum kits and components while retaining DW's DNA. Whereas many DW products focus on highly customizable configurations, the PDP by DW approach favors coherent choices and pre-established setups, convenient for drummers who want a ready-to-play instrument without compromising on essentials.
Target Audience for This Drum/Instrument
This snare drum is aimed at intermediate to advanced drummers seeking an expressive and reliable instrument capable of transitioning from studio to stage without surprises. Its thick construction and projection-oriented design make it particularly suited for styles where the snare needs to "cut through the mix": rock, pop, funk, fusion, contemporary music, and live situations with minimal mic reinforcement. It also suits the demanding drummer who wants a sharp attack, strong rimshot response, and a sensitive timbre for ghost notes.
