Salabert Scelsi - Ixor - Clarinette

Summary of this score

Scelsi - Ixor - Clarinet is a score for clarinet, with the option of performing the work on soprano saxophone. This dual instrumental designation is the main consideration to guide your choice: it allows you to approach Ixor on either of these wind instruments, depending on your playing and repertoire preferences.

For clarinettists, this score provides an opportunity to devote time to a work by Scelsi. You can include it in your search for new pieces, discover it with your teacher, or study it as part of your individual practice. The aim is to take the time to read the music, make it your own, and consider the intentions you wish to convey in your performance.

If you play the soprano saxophone, the indicated instrumentation also allows you to consider this work for your repertoire. The choice between clarinet and soprano saxophone can therefore be made according to your usual instrument, but also according to the sound you wish to explore. For musicians who play both instruments, this option invites them to reflect on the role of timbre in their musical approach.

When discovering the piece, you can organise your practice around several personal objectives: establishing your reading landmarks, preparing your breathing, and seeking continuity in the musical discourse. These suggestions do not prejudge the detailed content of the score; they simply offer one way to prepare for your session. This edition is therefore intended for musicians specifically looking for Scelsi's Ixor for clarinet or soprano saxophone, without imposing a single instrumental choice.
