The TP600, a student trumpet in the SML Paris range

With the TP600, SML Paris offers an instrument designed for musicians who are starting to learn the trumpet and want a complete setup. Its positioning combines a student-oriented design, materials selected for their musical qualities and useful everyday accessories. The rose brass bell and leadpipe are among the distinctive features of this model.

For the new model, SML Paris states that the instrument is checked and adjusted in the workshop before delivery. This preparation is intended to make it easier to get started, while still allowing for comfort adjustments. However, it does not constitute a diagnosis of the current condition of this Stock B example, whose defect is indicated above.

For learning in lessons, music school or an ensemble

This B-flat trumpet for beginners is primarily intended for students discovering breath control, embouchure technique and fingering. It can be used for method exercises as well as the first pieces played with other musicians. Its equipment also helps players become familiar with the maintenance procedures that are part of learning a brass instrument.

Classical, pop, fanfare or first steps into jazz: the TP600 makes it possible to explore a variety of repertoires throughout the lessons. The first-slide ring and adjustable third-slide ring provide grip points for learning how to correct certain notes. Intonation remains a process involving listening, breath support, lip position and the use of the slides.

Rose brass and lacquered finishing: a design aimed at a warm sound

The rose brass bell and leadpipe are designed to contribute to a round, warm tone. The lacquered brass body, engraved bell and pearlescent-finish piston buttons create a carefully presented instrument. The 11.65 mm bore and 123 mm bell define two important dimensions of the instrument, but are not sufficient on their own to determine its response.

Projection, ease of response and consistency across the registers also depend on the player, the mouthpiece and the trumpet's mechanical condition.
