Crafted in the Spirit of Traditional European Violins
This violin follows a classical lutherie approach, favoring recognized European tonewoods and a hand-applied varnish finish. This type of varnish, valued for its visual appeal and "organic" feel, naturally results in slight color variations from one instrument to another: each piece thus retains a unique character. Details such as the inlaid purfling and ebony fittings enhance this workshop-inspired aesthetic, designed to support both long-term study and stage performance.
For Which Musician and Uses?
Thanks to its selection of solid woods and setup focused on tuning comfort, this violin is particularly suited for the advancing musician (late beginner, intermediate level, adult serious recommencer) seeking a responsive and expressive instrument. It adapts very well to the classical repertoire (study, orchestra, chamber music), as well as to practices where intonation precision and tuning stability are essential (acoustic folk, traditional music, modern violin arrangements).
Sound Characteristics
The solid European spruce top promotes a quick bow response, good attack clarity, and natural projection, especially useful for articulating dynamics and bowing changes. The solid European maple back and ribs, with a slightly flamed back, provide sustain, definition, and a structured mid-high register while supporting depth in the low register. The ebony fittings contribute to a sense of control and stable vibration transmission. The combination of the Milo Stamm bridge and Larsen Aurora strings facilitates easy sound production and balanced tone color, while the Wittner tailpiece with fine tuner screw and Wittner fine tuning pegs make tuning and micro-adjustments more comfortable on a daily basis.
